The tragic burning of Notre Dame in April 2019 inspired this suite of paintings. This great cultural loss was also a personal one.  I frequently visited Notre Dame as an art student years ago in Paris. Since then I have returned to share it with my husband and, just recently before it burned, with my daughter.  The fire shocked me deeply as if I had lost an old friend.  These paintings attempt to capture my memories of the details as well as the enormity of Notre Dame and preserve its essence for those who will no longer know it as it was..
